About the Opportunity

As shown in image_db2b27.png, the Oxford Department of International Development is seeking to recruit a Quantitative Research Officer to join the dynamic Young Lives research team. This post-doctoral role focuses on supporting the development of the Young Lives Round 8 survey and driving agreed research priorities.

The successful post holder will join an international academic ecosystem, working collaboratively with researchers and policy staff based in Oxford as well as across the four Young Lives study countries.

Core Responsibilities

  • Research Collaboration: Work closely with policy staff and academic researchers in Oxford and partner study countries to advance the project’s analytical goals.

  • Survey Development: Directly support the operational planning and technical design of the Young Lives Round 8 survey.

  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Utilize advanced quantitative methodologies to analyze complex survey and panel datasets.

  • Scholarly Dissemination: Present formal research proposals and findings, represent the Young Lives initiative at meetings, and author high-quality manuscripts for academic publication.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A completed PhD/DPhil, or be close to the completion of a doctoral degree, in economics or another highly relevant quantitative social science discipline.

  • Proven skills and background in quantitative child poverty research.

  • Advanced analytical and statistical capabilities.

  • Strong proficiency in STATA software workflows.

  • Hands-on experience analyzing extensive survey/panel data (with a strong preference for household surveys originating from developing countries).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write clearly for international publications, deliver research proposals, and represent the team in professional environments.
