About the Role

The selected candidate will participate in research and teaching activities at the Institute for Statistics and Operations Research.

The position will also contribute to collaborative research under the Data Science @ University of Vienna research platform, with a focus on producing internationally recognised publications and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed candidate will be expected to:

Build an independent research profile in mathematical statistics
Participate in research projects and collaborative studies
Publish research in international academic journals
Present findings at conferences and seminars
Apply for research projects and external funding
Independently deliver courses as permitted under the collective agreement
Supervise and support students
Participate in evaluation and quality-assurance activities
Undertake administrative responsibilities in research and teaching

Candidate Profile

Applicants should possess:

A completed PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Data Science, or a related discipline
Strong expertise in mathematical statistics
A relevant academic publication record
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Interest in university teaching and interdisciplinary data-science research
