About the Project

RE-SECURE examines how knowledge and expertise developed under earlier political regimes are reinterpreted and adapted for contemporary security purposes.

With a focus on Central and Eastern Europe, the project investigates how security practices are shaped by:

• Political and historical transformations

• Scientific and technological expertise

• Global political connections

• Societal understandings of risk

• Material and symbolic dimensions of security

The research combines desk research, archival work, and field-based investigation.

Key Responsibilities

The selected researcher may be expected to:

• Conduct independent postdoctoral research

• Contribute to the RE-SECURE project and its work packages

• Undertake archival and field research

• Analyse technoscientific and security practices

• Prepare high-quality academic publications

• Present findings at conferences and project meetings

• Collaborate with international research partners

• Contribute to teaching and departmental activities

• Support project coordination and research dissemination

Candidate Profile

The position is suitable for applicants with:

• A completed PhD in Sociology, Political Science, Science and Technology Studies, International Relations, Security Studies, History, or a related discipline

• Strong interest in security, technology, expertise, and Central or Eastern Europe

• Experience with qualitative, archival, or field-based research

• A strong publication record or clear publication potential

• Excellent academic writing and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team
