About the Project
RE-SECURE examines how knowledge and expertise developed under earlier political regimes are reinterpreted and adapted for contemporary security purposes.
With a focus on Central and Eastern Europe, the project investigates how security practices are shaped by:
Political and historical transformations
Scientific and technological expertise
Global political connections
Societal understandings of risk
Material and symbolic dimensions of security
The research combines desk research, archival work, and field-based investigation.
Key Responsibilities
The selected researcher may be expected to:
Conduct independent postdoctoral research
Contribute to the RE-SECURE project and its work packages
Undertake archival and field research
Analyse technoscientific and security practices
Prepare high-quality academic publications
Present findings at conferences and project meetings
Collaborate with international research partners
Contribute to teaching and departmental activities
Support project coordination and research dissemination
Candidate Profile
The position is suitable for applicants with:
A completed PhD in Sociology, Political Science, Science and Technology Studies, International Relations, Security Studies, History, or a related discipline
Strong interest in security, technology, expertise, and Central or Eastern Europe
Experience with qualitative, archival, or field-based research
A strong publication record or clear publication potential
Excellent academic writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team
