About the Project

The position is offered under the DFG-WEAVE project:

“Aristotle on Soul and Senses: Exchanges between Latin and Greek Transmissions of De anima and De sensu” (EXDADS)

The project is conducted jointly by the University of Tübingen and KU Leuven, Belgium.

The principal investigators are:

• Klaus Corcilius, University of Tübingen

• Lisa Devriese, KU Leuven

• Pieter Beullens, KU Leuven

Research Focus

The project investigates:

• Medieval Latin translations of Aristotle’s De anima and De sensu

• The Greek sources underlying these translations

• Intellectual and textual exchanges between the Latin and Greek traditions

• The historical transmission and interpretation of Aristotelian philosophy

Key Responsibilities

The selected researcher will:

• Prepare a critical edition of William of Moerbeke’s Latin translation of Aristotle’s De anima.

• Collaborate closely with the research team at the University of Tübingen.

• Work in partnership with the parallel project team at KU Leuven.

• Share research data, methods and findings across the two institutions.

• Participate in regular joint workshops and collaborative research activities.

• Contribute to the broader study of Latin and Greek manuscript traditions.
