The University of St Andrews is inviting applications for the position of Network Coordinator and Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the German Screen Studies Network (GSSN).

The role is jointly supported by the School of Modern Languages and the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies. It combines academic network coordination, editorial work and postdoctoral research.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the development and activities of the German Screen Studies Network.

The position includes a combination of administrative, editorial and academic responsibilities, offering the selected applicant an opportunity to contribute to an emerging international research network and a new scholarly journal.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide administrative support to the academic leads of the GSSN

  • Help plan, promote and deliver network events

  • Support communications and outreach activities

  • Assist in establishing and managing a new peer-reviewed journal titled German Screen Studies

  • Contribute to preparations for the journal’s planned publication with Berghahn in 2027

  • Edit a special issue of the journal based on their own research expertise

  • Coordinate with scholars, editors and network members

  • Support the wider development of the German Screen Studies Network

Nature of the Appointment

The role is offered at 0.3 FTE, equivalent to approximately 11 hours per week.

The appointment is fixed-term and will continue until December 2027.
