The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS), University of Oxford, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Health Economics. The position offers an exciting opportunity to join a leading interdisciplinary research team working on the economics of cardiovascular disease prevention and chronic disease modelling.
Funded by the European Society of Cardiology, the successful candidate will work with Associate Professor José Leal and Dr Marjan Walli-Attaei within the Health Economics and Policy Evaluation Group.

About the Role
The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to research focused on:
Economics of cardiovascular disease prevention
Chronic disease modelling and policy evaluation
Healthcare costs and health outcomes analysis
Long-term modelling of interventions on survival, quality of life, and resource utilisation
Economic evaluations and disease modelling across healthcare systems
The researcher will join a rapidly growing team of more than 30 health economists undertaking applied and methodological research across a range of health conditions and healthcare settings in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Conduct economic evaluations and health economic modelling studies.
Analyse large and complex healthcare datasets.
Undertake disease modelling and health technology assessment research.
Contribute to research publications, reports for funders, and conference presentations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and international partner institutions.
Develop evidence to inform interventions for cardiovascular disease prevention and chronic disease management.
An example project includes modelling the long-term costs of cardiovascular prevention interventions across European healthcare systems up to 2070.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should:
Hold, or be close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in one of the following areas:
Health Economics
Economics
Statistics
Epidemiology
Health Data Science
Mathematics
Another quantitative discipline
Essential Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:
Experience in health economics and disease modelling.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Experience conducting economic evaluations and health technology assessments.
Proficiency in analysing complex datasets using statistical software such as:
R
Stata
Python

The department may support a pattern of regular remote working, subject to agreement with the line manager.
