Research Project

The PhD is part of the EU-HORIZON project:

“Biological Evidence and Mechanism-based Disease Classification for the Improved Diagnosis, Prognosis and Treatment of ME/CFS (DISCOVER-ME)”

The doctoral researcher will contribute to Work Package 7 (WP7), which examines the individual, societal and economic burden of ME/CFS to support the development of improved policy and care frameworks.

Key Research Objectives

The successful candidate will contribute to research that aims to:

Analyse the individual, societal and health-system burden of ME/CFS across European contexts
Use mixed research methods to examine the broader impact of the condition
Investigate the social realities of living with ME/CFS
Examine impacts on education, employment, family life and access to care
Quantify the economic costs of ME/CFS at individual, household and societal levels
Identify unmet needs among people affected by ME/CFS
Develop practical recommendations for supportive care and policy change
Contribute to improving health-system responsiveness
