About the Fellowship

Founded in 1970, the Michigan Society of Fellows provides an exceptional environment for outstanding scholars and artists transitioning from graduate study to independent academic careers. Fellows pursue original research and creative projects while participating in interdisciplinary intellectual exchange across the University of Michigan.

As part of its new Arts Initiative, the Society will appoint a dedicated Arts Fellow, expanding opportunities for creative practitioners within the fellowship programme.

Eligibility

Applicants should:

Have completed an MFA degree or a comparable terminal degree in the arts since June 2024.
Demonstrate exceptional promise in creative practice and scholarly work.
Be interested in pursuing research and creative projects while teaching at a leading research university.
