About the Position

The selected researcher will support University of Florida plant-breeding programmes and the USDA-ARS-funded Breeding Insight programme. The role involves developing and implementing solutions related to experimental design, statistical analysis, research-data management and analytical software tools. (PageUp Careers)

The successful candidate will also deliver training and analytical support to faculty members, researchers, technicians and students.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct statistical and genomic data analysis for plant-breeding programmes.

• Develop analytical workflows using R and/or Python.

• Support and maintain R-based analytical tools and Shiny applications.

• Improve methods for collecting, evaluating, curating, storing and analysing research data.

• Ensure data accuracy, security and compatibility with analytical tools.

• Prepare practical guides, procedures and training materials.

• Train researchers and students in breeding software and statistical-analysis tools.

• Prepare research manuscripts, reports and scientific presentations. (PageUp Careers)

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

• A doctoral degree or recognised foreign equivalent in plant breeding, genetics, genomics, applied statistics or a closely related discipline.

• Programming proficiency in R and/or Python.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Effective interpersonal and collaborative abilities.

• A commitment to supporting the mission of the Land-Grant university system. (PageUp Careers)

Preferred Experience

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• At least two years of experience in statistical modelling applied to agriculture, natural resources, genomics or phenomics.

• Experience providing consultation on experimental design or statistical data analysis.
