The University of Copenhagen, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy – Institute of Design, Product and Material, has invited applications for two full-time Postdoctoral positions under the research project MOOW: Democratic Ownership in the Green Transition. The project focuses on green transitions, democratic participation, sustainability, and climate governance, offering researchers an opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research addressing contemporary environmental and societal challenges.
The appointments are for 24 months, with the expected start date of 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the MOOW Project
The MOOW (Democratic Ownership in the Green Transition) project investigates how democratic engagement, public participation, legitimacy, and ownership influence the transition towards sustainable societies.
The project examines the relationship between climate ambitions and local communities, exploring how citizens engage with renewable energy projects, land-use planning, sustainability initiatives, and environmental governance. It aims to understand how democratic ownership can strengthen public trust and support inclusive green transitions.

The successful candidates will:

Publish research findings in internationally recognized journals.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should have:
A Ph.D. in Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Human Geography, Environmental Studies, Sustainability Studies, Design Research, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated research experience in sustainability, environmental governance, democratic participation, or climate policy.
Strong analytical, qualitative, and interdisciplinary research skills.
Excellent academic writing and communication abilities.
A proven publication record or strong research potential.
