The International Research Center for Neurointelligence (WPI-IRCN), The University of Tokyo, invites applications for Postdoctoral Fellow (Fixed-Term Project Researcher) positions under the SENDO: International Leading Research Programme. The programme seeks highly motivated early-career researchers to undertake interdisciplinary and international collaborative research in brain science and neurointelligence.

  • Employment Type: Fixed-Term Project Researcher

  • Start Date: After 1 September 2026 (negotiable)

  • Initial Appointment: One year

  • Contract Period: Until 31 March 2027

  • Renewal: Renewable annually based on project progress, performance, and institutional requirements.

About the Programme

The SENDO programme is part of an International Leading Research grant sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan. The initiative aims to foster interdisciplinary collaborations and create a globally connected research ecosystem in neurointelligence and brain sciences.

The programme welcomes researchers specializing in:

  • Neurobiology

  • Developmental Neuroscience

  • Social Neuroscience

  • Intelligent Robotics

  • Mathematical Neuroscience

  • Related interdisciplinary fields

Research Theme

Selected candidates will participate in international collaborative research activities under the theme:

“Nurturing Brain Networks for Social Networks”

Applicants are required to specify their preferred research project and laboratory location while submitting their application.

Postdoctoral Fellows will undertake collaborative research with one of the programme’s international partner institutions:

  1. Boston Children’s Hospital / Harvard University (USA)

  2. Institute of Neuroscience, National Research Council (CNR), Italy

  3. École Normale Supérieure (France)

  4. Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)

  5. Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Italy
