UNVEIL stands for Unified Nondestructive Evaluation of Historical Artifacts.

The European Doctoral Network brings together academic, industrial, and cultural institutions across Europe to improve the diagnosis, study, and preservation of cultural heritage.

The network offers 12 fully funded PhD positions across Europe, covering research at the intersection of:

  • Advanced imaging

  • Data fusion

  • Non-destructive evaluation

  • Cultural heritage science

  • Digital preservation

  • Scientific analysis of historical artefacts

About the Role

The selected candidate will undertake doctoral research within the UNVEIL network and contribute to interdisciplinary work involving science, technology, data analysis, and heritage conservation.

The role may include:

  • Conducting original doctoral research

  • Working with advanced imaging and diagnostic technologies

  • Developing data-fusion and analytical methods

  • Collaborating with European academic and industry partners

  • Participating in network training activities

  • Presenting research at conferences and project meetings

  • Preparing academic publications and a doctoral thesis
