Research Focus and Responsibilities

The selected researcher will work on topics involving climate and extreme weather, including:

• Statistical analysis of historical observations

• Analysis of climate model simulations

• Research on compound and cascading extreme weather events

• Evaluation of data-driven Earth system model simulations

• Collaboration on NOAA- and NSF-funded research projects

• Preparation of peer-reviewed research publications

• Presentation of research at scientific meetings and conferences

• Preparation and submission of grant proposals

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. by the appointment start date in a relevant area such as:

• Earth or Environmental Science

• Atmospheric Science

• Geography

• Mathematics

• Statistics

• Computer Science

• Related disciplines

Candidates should also have:

• Experience analysing large observational and/or climate-model datasets

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Experience

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in:

• CMIP datasets and/or regional climate modelling

• Historical station observations

• Remotely sensed datasets

• Statistical analysis of compound extreme weather events
