Research Project

The successful candidate will contribute to the SOUL (Stellar evOlution in fUll gLory) Centre of Excellence, a long-term research initiative supported by the Flemish Government.

The project focuses on:

Calibrating tidal dissipation models in evolving high-mass close binary stars.
Applying asteroseismology to improve theoretical models of stellar evolution.
Studying stellar and star-planet systems using advanced computational and observational techniques.
Collaborating with leading international research groups and observatories.

Research Environment

The researcher will be hosted at the Institute of Astronomy (IvS) while collaborating closely with the Centre for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (CmPA).

Eligibility Criteria

The ideal candidate should have:

A Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a related discipline.
Strong research experience in stellar astrophysics, asteroseismology, or computational astrophysics.
Interest in modelling stellar evolution and close binary systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in an international research environment.
