Research Topic

Gasification of High Ash Coal in Bubbling Fluidized Bed Gasifier: Process Optimization & Scale Up

The project focuses on developing innovative technologies and optimization strategies for low-grade, high-ash coal gasification systems and advancing clean energy solutions.

Fellowship Details

Position Type: Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship
Initial Duration: 11 months
Extension: Possible based on performance review
Fellowship: INR 58,000 – INR 67,000 per month + 27% HRA (depending on prior experience and level of appointment as RA-I/II/III)

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
Ph.D. in Chemistry with relevant research or industrial experience related to experimental operations or numerical simulation of fluidized bed coal-gasification systems.

Experience Requirements

Fresh Ph.D. candidates (Thesis Submitted) are eligible to apply.
Candidates with 1–2 years of post-doctoral or relevant industrial R&D experience are also encouraged to apply.

Preferred Profile

Publications in Scopus-indexed journals and/or reputed international conferences.
Strong academic record throughout.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Applicants should not have publications in predatory journals.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected fellow will be involved in:

Design, procurement, installation, assembly, and testing of a fluidized-bed bench-scale gasifier optimized for gasification of low-grade high-ash coal.
Development of multi-phase reacting flow CFD models for coal gasification processes using ANSYS-FLUENT.
Independent and collaborative research activities.
Mentoring Master’s and PhD scholars.
Report preparation, article and patent writing, and laboratory inventory management.
Supporting technology implementation at TRL-5/6 levels.
