IIT Gandhinagar Post-Doctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026 – Apply for Research Position in Theoretical Physics

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has invited applications for one Post-Doctoral Fellow position in the Department of Physics. The position is available under the supervision of Prof. Abhishek Samanta and focuses on topological transport phenomena in magnetic and non-magnetic systems. Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• A good academic record with:

  • Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in Graduation.

  • Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class 10 and Class 12.

• Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics, with specialization in:

  • Condensed Matter Physics, or

  • Statistical Physics.

Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are also eligible to apply.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Strong research background in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics.

• Experience in strongly correlated quantum systems.

• Research expertise in Topological Transport Phenomena.

• Knowledge of Nonlinear Hall Effect, Chiral Anomaly, and Strongly Correlated Systems.

• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work in the Theoretical Condensed Matter Research Group under Prof. Abhishek Samanta and collaborate with the experimental condensed matter group.

The research will focus on:

• Topological transport phenomena in magnetic and non-magnetic systems.

• Nonlinear Hall effects.

• Chiral anomaly.

• Strongly correlated materials.

• Multiband effects in nonlinear Hall phenomena.

• Development of theoretical models for condensed matter systems.

The selected candidate may also participate in academic teaching and other institute-related activities as per IIT Gandhinagar norms.

Fellowship & Benefits

• INR 72,000–INR 84,000 per month (Consolidated).

• HRA up to INR 11,000 per month (if applicable).
