Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) invites applications for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The fellowship is offered under a research project focusing on the kinetics of enzymatic and enzyme cascade reactions for the production of food products, fuels, and chemicals.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for researchers interested in enzyme engineering, reaction kinetics, biochemical processes, and computational modelling.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• Ph.D. in:

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering Biotechnology

  • Biochemical Engineering

  • Biochemistry

  • Related disciplines

Applicants who have submitted their thesis in the aforementioned disciplines and are awaiting award of the degree may also apply.

Academic Requirements

• Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6/10 or equivalent.

• Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class 10 and Class 12.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants should demonstrate expertise in:

• Coding and mathematical modelling, particularly solving differential equations and numerical methods.

• Kinetic modelling of chemical and biochemical reactions.

• Scientific writing and research communication.

• Preparation of manuscripts, reports, and research presentations.

• Publication record and strong problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary research environments.

• Mentoring junior researchers and students.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge and experience in:

• Organic Chemistry

• Inorganic Chemistry

• Enzymology

• Quantum Chemical Simulations

• Biochemical Process Engineering

• Related core chemical engineering disciplines

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Study the kinetics and mechanisms of enzymatic and enzyme cascade reactions.

• Build deterministic and stochastic kinetic models.

• Conduct computational and mathematical analysis of biochemical processes.

• Collaborate with experimental researchers and interdisciplinary teams.

• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to teaching and research activities.

• Assist in developing independent research capabilities and preparing scientific publications.
