Ghent University invites applications for a full-time Doctoral Assistant position in the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

Research Component

At least 50% of the appointment will be devoted to academic research leading to the preparation of a doctoral dissertation.

The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop and conduct doctoral research

  • Review relevant academic literature

  • Collect and analyse research data

  • Prepare academic papers and conference presentations

  • Work toward completing a PhD dissertation

  • Contribute to the department’s research activities

Teaching Responsibilities

The candidate will support teaching activities in Dutch within the field of financial accounting.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with courses in financial accounting

  • Supporting tutorials in Dutch

  • Preparing teaching materials and exercises

  • Assisting with assessments and student guidance

  • Contributing to the delivery of accounting-related courses

Additional Responsibilities

The selected candidate will also assist with:

  • Internal and external departmental services

  • Academic administration

  • Programme-related activities

  • Coordination and organisational tasks

  • Departmental meetings and events

Candidate Profile

The position is suitable for applicants with:

  • A strong academic background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field

  • Interest in doctoral research

  • Good analytical and academic writing skills

  • Ability to teach and communicate in Dutch

  • Interest in financial accounting

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
