About the Role
The Indian School of Business (ISB) invites applications for a full-time Research Associate / Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Accounting area under the mentorship of Professor Gurvinder Sandhu.

About the Faculty
Professor Gurvinder Sandhu is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at ISB. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and a B.Com. from Kurukshetra University.
His research focuses on financial institutions, credit markets, and voluntary disclosures by firms, with a particular emphasis on how banks structure and diversify their loan portfolios. His work has been presented at premier global forums such as the American Accounting Association and the European Accounting Association.
Teaching interests include financial statement analysis and introductory financial accounting.
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow, you will:
- Collaborate with faculty on ongoing research projects.
- Conduct literature reviews and manage academic references.
- Collect, clean, and analyze large-scale datasets.
- Use and develop skills in Python, Stata, R, SAS, and advanced econometric techniques.
- Assist with preliminary data analysis, statistical modeling, and research design.
- Contribute to high-impact research publications in Accounting, Auditing, and Corporate Finance.
This role provides significant exposure to empirical archival research, panel data econometrics, causal inference, and machine learning techniques.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Computer Science, Signal Processing) OR a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Economics from a premier institute.
- Strong quantitative and mathematical background.
- Proficiency in Python, R, Stata, or SAS (at least one required).
Preferred/Additional Skills:
- Experience with API queries, web-scraping, or textual analysis.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning/AI methods.
