About the Project

This PhD project focuses on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) arising in structured population dynamics and kinetic theory. The research includes mathematical models such as the Boltzmann and Landau equations, with opportunities to explore topics based on the candidate's academic interests and expertise.

The selected researcher will work under the supervision of Havva Yoldaş and co-supervision of Raphael Winter (Cardiff University) while contributing to cutting-edge research in applied mathematics.


Research Responsibilities

The selected PhD researcher will:

  • Conduct advanced research on Partial Differential Equations (PDEs).

  • Study qualitative and quantitative properties of kinetic equations.

  • Apply mathematical tools from PDE theory, functional analysis, and probability theory.

  • Investigate topics such as well-posedness, long-term behaviour, scaling limits, and information-theoretic methods.

  • Present research findings at national and international conferences and workshops.

  • Participate in collaborative research activities within the DIAM research group.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess:

  • Preferably, knowledge of Probability Theory.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international research environment.
