Project Title & Research Focus

Project Title: Leadership in Crisis: Exploring the Factors Contributing to Personal and Organizational Resilience Within Extreme Environments

This doctoral research project forms part of a broader research agenda examining how leaders navigate extreme environments and crisis conditions to foster individual and organizational resilience.

Key Objectives & Research Scope:

• Explore mechanisms enabling leaders to operate effectively under conditions of disruption, uncertainty, and adversity.

• Investigate positive and negative outcomes of crisis leadership across leaders, followers, and organizations.

• Analyze variance in crisis leadership consequences between leaders and followers.

• Advance leadership and organizational behavior theories while delivering sector-specific strategies to enhance organizational adaptability and recovery capacity.

Candidate Requirements & Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Educational Background: Master by Research or Bachelor with Honours in Business, Commerce, or a related field.

• Research Experience: Proven experience executing a substantial research project (e.g., Master's or Honours thesis).

• Technical & Analytical Skills: Advanced data analysis skills (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods) and strong academic writing capability.

• Interpersonal & Project Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal communication, team collaboration, project management, and goal delivery within specified timeframes.

Desirable Criteria:

• Research publication record in a peer-reviewed academic journal.

• Prior experience tutoring higher education business students.

• Capacity to assist with seeking external research grant funding alongside supervisors.

Funding, Salary & Candidate Benefits

• Research Training Program (RTP) Tuition Fee Waiver: Full tuition fee waiver provided under the Australian Government RTP scheme for eligible Australian and New Zealand citizens, and Australian permanent residents.

• Living Stipend Scholarship: Applicants are encouraged to apply for the Living Stipend Scholarship (RTP round closes March 31 & September 30). The 2026 full-time stipend rate is $34,315 AUD per annum.

• Employment Opportunities: Potential paid tutoring or research assistant roles within the Bond Business School based on candidate experience.

• Industry Internships: Opportunities to partner with corporate/organizational networks to conduct applied industry research.
