21st Macroeconomics and Finance Conference (MFC 2025)

December 15–17, 2025 | IGIDR, Mumbai

The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is pleased to announce the 21st Macroeconomics and Finance Conference (MFC 2025) to be held on December 15–17, 2025, at the IGIDR campus in Mumbai.

The objective of the Conference is to bring together scholars engaged in high-quality research in macroeconomics and finance, and to provide a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas that push the boundaries of existing research, with special emphasis on emerging economies like India.

📑 Call for Papers

Papers are invited on all theoretical and empirical aspects of macroeconomics and finance. Contributions on the following topics, particularly in the context of emerging market economies, are especially encouraged:

  • Innovation, digital currency, fintech, and AI
  • Macroeconomics of climate change
  • Behavioural and heterogeneous agent models in macroeconomics and finance
  • Productivity and economic growth
  • Macroeconomic implications of trade wars
  • Reserve currencies and central bank balance sheets
  • Monetary policy spillovers, co-movement of capital flows, and the impossible trilemma
  • Macro shocks and firms' financial choices
  • Monetary policy transmission to firms and households
  • Debt sustainability and sub-national finances

📌 Guidelines for Submission

  • Papers must be complete, unpublished, and original.
  • Submissions should be uploaded in PDF format via the Online Submission Form.
  • The first page should include: title, authors’ names & affiliations, contact details, abstract (max 300 words), keywords, JEL codes, and the corresponding author’s details.
  • Multiple submissions per author are allowed, but each person can present only one paper.
  • Faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, and researchers from central banks, think tanks, and policy institutions are strongly encouraged to apply.

🏆 Dr. Subir V. Gokarn Best Paper Awards

To honor the memory of Dr. Subir V. Gokarn, former Deputy Governor of RBI and former IGIDR faculty, the following awards will be presented:

  • Best Paper Award: ₹1,00,000 + Citation
  • Second Best Paper Award: ₹50,000 + Citation
  • Third Best Paper Award: ₹25,000 + Citation

✈️ Travel and Accommodation

  • IGIDR will provide accommodation, meals, and local hospitality for selected presenters.
  • Limited travel funding is available for participants without institutional support. Requests for funding should be indicated at the time of submission.
  • Further details will be shared upon acceptance.
