The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has announced a call for research project proposals under its Multidisciplinary Research Studies initiative for the year 2025–26. The theme for this round is:

About the Call

Family systems (Kutumb Vyavastha) have historically been the cornerstone of Indian society, shaping values, ethics, and social cohesion. However, with globalization, urbanization, and evolving lifestyles, the nature and role of families are undergoing profound transformations.

To address these changes and to strengthen indigenous knowledge frameworks, ICSSR invites empirical, theoretical, and comparative research projects from Indian researchers across disciplines including sociology, anthropology, psychology, history, law, political science, economics, cultural studies, and more

Eligibility

• Open to permanently employed or retired faculty from UGC-recognized universities, ICSSR institutes, and Institutes of National Importance.
• Independent researchers and contractual faculty with a Ph.D. and strong publication record may also apply in collaboration with eligible institutions
