About the Programme

The Visvesvaraya Ph.D. Scheme for Electronics & IT (Phase II – 2025) at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. program. A total of 03 seats are available across the following departments:

• Electronics Engineering – 01 seat
• Computer Science & Engineering – 01 seat
• Electrical Engineering – 01 seat

Eligibility

• GATE/NET not mandatory if the candidate has:
• M.Tech./M.E. with First Class or ≥60% marks (or equivalent CGPA), OR
• B.Tech./B.E. with CGPA ≥ 8 (on 10-point scale) from a CFTI, OR
• B.Tech./B.E. with CGPA ≥ 8 from an institution ranked in NIRF India Top 100 (overall) in current or previous year.
• Others must qualify NET/GATE for admission.

Financial Support

• Fellowship:
• ₹38,750 per month (1st & 2nd year)
• ₹43,750 per month (3rd–5th year)
• Research Contingency Grant: ₹1,20,000 per year
• Reimbursement of Rent (RoR): As per GoI HRA norms

Admission Process

1. Shortlisting based on academic performance and/or GATE/NET.
2. Interview of shortlisted candidates.
