The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), recognized as an Institution of Eminence (IoE), has announced its Ph.D. and M.S. (Research) admissions for the Second Semester of the Academic Year 2025–26.

🧭 Important Dates
The online application portal opens on October 11, 2025 (12 PM) and closes on October 30, 2025 (4 PM).
Departmental tests and interviews are scheduled between December 9 and 16, 2025, followed by orientation on January 1, 2026, and commencement of classes from January 2, 2026.
🎓 Programmes and Research Areas
Ph.D. and M.S. (Research) programmes are available in all academic departments, centres, and schools — including:
- Engineering and Technology: Applied Mechanics, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and Computer Science Engineering
- Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biosciences & Bioengineering
- Humanities and Social Sciences: Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Literature, and Philosophy
- Design and Management: Strategic Management, Innovation Design, Technology Management, and Industrial Design
- Interdisciplinary Research: AI & Data Science, Energy & Environment, Healthcare Technology, and Climate Studies
🧩 Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree holders in Engineering, Technology, Design, Sciences, or Management must have at least 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA.
- Bachelor’s degree holders (B.E./B.Tech./B.S. 4-year programmes) should have a minimum of 70% marks or 7.0 CGPA along with a valid GATE, NET, JRF, or equivalent qualification.
- IIT graduates with CGPA of 8.0 or above are exempted from qualifying exam requirements.
- Relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA is applicable for SC/ST/PwD applicants.
💰 Financial Assistance and Fellowships
All eligible full-time Ph.D. scholars receive a monthly assistantship of ₹ 37,000 for the first two years and ₹ 42,000 for the next three years.
M.S. (Research) students are offered ₹ 12,400 per month for four semesters.
In addition, IIT Delhi provides travel grants (up to ₹ 2 lakhs) for international conference participation and supports various fellowships such as PMRF, DST-INSPIRE, and industry-sponsored programs.

The application fee is ₹ 200 for General/OBC/EWS applicants and ₹ 50 for SC/ST/PwD categories.
Applicants must upload academic documents, certificates, and (if applicable) No Objection/Sponsorship Letters during submission.
No printed form needs to be sent to the institute.
