Project Title

“Developing Heat Mitigation Strategies Using Machine Learning Based Predictive Models”

Overview of Role

The project focuses on assessing urban heat stress and identifying key factors influencing extreme heat conditions in urban areas.

The selected JRF will contribute to the development of machine-learning-based predictive models and evidence-based heat mitigation strategies for climate-resilient urban planning.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• B.Arch. / B.Plan. / B.Tech. (Planning) / B.E. (Civil) / B.Tech. (Civil)

AND

• Master's Degree in:

  • Urban Planning

  • Urban Design

  • Environmental Planning

  • Housing

  • Geoinformatics

  • Related discipline

Candidates should have a minimum of 80% marks or 8.5 CGPA at both levels.

Applicants should also:

• Have qualified GATE; old GATE scores will also be considered.

• Possess proficiency in English reading and writing.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Basic knowledge of Statistics

• Proficiency in GIS

• ENVI-met

• RStudio

• Python

• Google SketchUp

• AutoCAD

• Experience working on projects involving ENVI-met

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month (Consolidated)

The fellowship will be provided as per applicable DST norms.

Duration

The position is purely temporary.

• Initial appointment: 6 Months

• May be extended based on satisfactory performance and project progress

• Maximum tenure: Up to 2 Years, subject to project duration

Ph.D. Opportunity

The selected candidate may have the opportunity to register for a regular Ph.D. programme at VNIT Nagpur, subject to fulfilling the Institute's Ph.D. admission eligibility requirements.
