The Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), The University of Tokyo, invites applications for one Project Research Associate position (Fixed-term Project Staff) in the Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, Laser and Synchrotron Research Center. About the Project
The successful candidate will participate in the JST FOREST Programme project, “Development of Ultrafast Soft X-ray Hyperspectral Microscopy.” The project aims to pioneer novel X-ray imaging technologies by combining advanced X-ray light sources, including:
Synchrotron radiation
X-ray free-electron lasers
High-order harmonics
Ultracompact X-ray optical devices
The developed technologies will be applied to cutting-edge research in:
Materials science
Surface and nanostructure studies
Biological materials and systems
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
Develop and advance innovative X-ray imaging technologies.
Conduct interdisciplinary research in materials and biological sciences.
Participate in the JST FOREST research programme.
Support joint-use experiments at ISSP.
Mentor students and early-career researchers.
Contribute to the development of key technologies related to the planned upgrade to Spring-8-II.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Hold a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification, or
Be on track to obtain a Ph.D. before the commencement of employment.
