The Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) invites applications for a Research Associate Position at its Center for New Materials Research. This opportunity is ideal for highly motivated early-career researchers interested in advancing cutting-edge materials research at one of Japan’s premier research institutions.

Position Details

• Post: Research Associate

• Affiliation: Center for New Materials Research, Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), The University of Tokyo

• Location: Kashiwa Campus, Kashiwa, Chiba, Japan

• Start Date: As soon as possible after receiving the job offer

• Initial Appointment: 5 years

• Extension: Up to an additional 5 years based on satisfactory performance

• Probation Period: 14 days from the start of employment

Research Area and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will collaborate with Associate Professor Hirose on developing molecular materials exhibiting unique spectroscopic and electrochemical properties.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting innovative research in synthetic organic chemistry and molecular materials

• Exploring new research frontiers in materials science and chemistry

• Collaborating with domestic and international research groups

• Mentoring graduate students and contributing to academic activities

• Engaging in interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Hold a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification, OR

• Be on track to obtain their doctoral degree before the appointment begins.
