The Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences (CBCS), University of Allahabad invites applications for 01 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and 01 Research Assistant (RA) under a research project funded by the Cognitive Science Research Initiative (CSRI), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Mechanisms Underlying the Age-Related Shifts in Emotional Goals and Its Relationship with Structural and Functional Changes in the Brain”

The project investigates age-related changes in emotional goals and their relationship with structural and functional changes in the human brain using behavioural and neuroimaging approaches.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• A good academic background with an M.Sc. degree in Cognitive Science or a related discipline, such as:

  • Neuroscience

  • Psychology

  • Other closely related fields

• Experience in conducting computer-based behavioural experiments.

• Experience with functional neuroimaging.

• Experience in fMRI data acquisition and analysis.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates having experience with:

• E-Prime

• PsychoPy

• MATLAB

• R

• Behavioural experiment design and implementation

• Functional MRI data processing and analysis

• Cognitive and affective neuroscience research

Candidates should also have knowledge of conversational Hindi.

Key Responsibilities

Selected candidates are expected to contribute to:

• Computer-based behavioural experiments.

• Recruitment and assessment of research participants.

• Functional neuroimaging and fMRI data acquisition.

• Processing and analysis of behavioural and neuroimaging datasets.

• Research related to ageing, emotional goals and brain function.

• Scientific documentation and research reporting.

• Other project-related activities assigned by the research team.
