About the Project
The successful candidate will contribute to the project titled “Autonomous Real-Time Composite Quality Assurance via Neuromorphic Tactile Sensing.” The research aims to develop innovative methods for detecting defects during composite manufacturing processes using advanced tactile sensing technologies, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
The project brings together expertise from the University of Bristol's School of Engineering Mathematics and Technology and the National Composites Centre (NCC).
Role and Responsibilities
The Research Associate will:
Optimize an artificial tactile sensor for detecting defects in composite layup processes.
Develop algorithms and visualization tools to demonstrate sensor performance in industrial settings.
Design and implement automated composite layup defect detection systems.
Apply knowledge of robotics, artificial sensors, and neural networks to address real-world manufacturing challenges.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including researchers from the University of Bristol and the National Composites Centre.
