The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is seeking a dynamic and motivated professional for the position of Research Associate (Consultant): Mineral Expert. This role, based in New Delhi within the Resource Efficiency & Governance Division, is instrumental in supporting the Ministry of Mines to advance India's critical minerals agenda under the National Critical Mineral Mission.

Background & Objective
The Resource Efficiency and Governance Division at TERI is assisting the Ministry of Mines in strengthening India's mineral security. The objective is to build resilient, sustainable, and self-reliant critical mineral supply chains. The selected candidate will provide strategic, technical, and analytical support, including policy advisory, framework development, and stakeholder engagement on both national and multilateral platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Provide evidence-based policy analysis and recommendations to support the National Critical Mineral Mission.
Draft policy notes, background papers, and briefing materials for senior government officials.
Develop strategic frameworks, guidelines, and implementation strategies aligned with national priorities.
Support the development of roadmaps for exploration, extraction, processing, refining, recycling, and circular economy integration for critical minerals.
Conduct comprehensive research and technical analysis on global and domestic critical mineral supply chains.
Contribute to analytical work focusing on regulatory and institutional strengthening related to critical mineral governance.
Facilitate stakeholder consultations and coordination with government agencies, research institutions, industry partners, and international platforms.
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, knowledge products, and strategic documents related to India's mineral security.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications:
Essential: Master’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Mining Engineering, or Earth Sciences.
Desirable: Master’s degree or specialization in Mineral Economics, Resource Economics, or a closely related discipline focusing on resource governance. Coursework in critical minerals, circular economy, or sustainable mining practices is an advantage.
Experience Requirements:
Essential: 1–3 years of professional experience in critical minerals, mining policy, mineral economics, resource governance, or related domains.
Desirable: Prior experience working with government ministries, international organizations, research institutions, or think tanks.
Required Skills
Strong research, analytical, and policy drafting capabilities.
Deep understanding of critical mineral supply chains, mining policy, and resource governance frameworks.
Familiarity with sustainable mining, mineral processing, recycling technologies, and circular economy concepts.
Proven ability to prepare high-quality policy documents and technical reports.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
