Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat has invited applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) sponsored research project. The project focuses on developing multilingual AI solutions for fact verification and misinformation detection in Indic languages.

Project Title

Evidence Retrieval and Construction for Fact-Verification to Mitigate Misinformation in Indic Language Context

Fellowship

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA (As per ANRF/Government of India norms)

Duration

• Initially for one year.

• Extendable based on satisfactory performance up to the completion of the project.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech./M.S. (Research) in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or related disciplines.

• Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA.

• Valid GATE/NET or equivalent national-level examination qualification.

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates having:

• Strong programming skills in Python.

• Knowledge of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Information Retrieval, and Question Answering Systems.

• Hands-on experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, FAISS, or similar frameworks.

• Experience in multilingual or Indic language processing.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected JRF will work on:

• Developing multilingual fact-verification systems for Indic languages such as Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, and others.

• Collecting, cleaning, annotating, and maintaining multilingual datasets.

• Fine-tuning and evaluating Large Language Models (LLMs) for fact verification.

• Preparing research papers, technical reports, and project deliverables.
