"साक्ष्य — Evidence Retrieval and Construction for Fact-Verification to Mitigate Misinformation in Indic Language Context"

The position is based at the Department of CSE, SVNIT Surat. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing, with the possibility of pursuing a Ph.D. at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat (subject to Institute eligibility criteria).

About the Project

Our project, साक्ष्य, aims to develop an AI-powered multilingual fact-verification framework capable of automatically retrieving reliable evidence, reasoning over multiple information sources, and generating transparent explanations for claims in Indian languages. The project will combine advances in Information Retrieval, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Question Answering, and Multilingual AI to build trustworthy fact-verification systems for Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, and other Indic languages.

Beyond combating misinformation, the technologies developed in this project have broad applications in journalism, digital governance, education, media analytics, public policy, and trustworthy AI, helping build a more reliable and inclusive digital information ecosystem.
