About the Position

The Department of Computer Science at NYU Tandon is seeking a talented Research Associate to support research focused on AI safety, fairness, and responsible AI systems. The selected candidate will work on developing innovative techniques and coding tools to evaluate and improve the reliability of artificial intelligence applications, particularly in high-impact domains such as hiring and credit decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Develop techniques and coding tool prototypes for testing AI systems for safety and fairness.

• Design methods to evaluate decision instability in AI hiring and credit applications.

• Create approaches to augment datasets for bias detection and mitigation.

• Conduct experiments, analyze results, and contribute to AI safety research.

• Collaborate with faculty and research teams on cutting-edge computer science projects.

• Assist in preparing research publications and presenting findings.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should have:

• A strong academic background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
