The National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India-sponsored research project in the Department of Biotechnology. The project focuses on sustainable bioproduction of nitrilase enzymes using unicellular cyanobacterial species and their characterization through in vivo and in silico approaches.

Project Title

Sustainable Bioproduction of Nitrilase Using Unicellular Cyanobacterial Species and In Vivo and In Silico Enzyme Characterization

Fellowship & Benefits

• Fellowship: INR 37,000 per month for two years

• HRA: As per institute rules

• Accommodation: Eligible for on-campus hostel and mess facilities, subject to availability

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess qualifications in Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biosciences, Bioengineering, or related disciplines, meeting one of the following criteria:

Option 1

• B.E./B.Tech. in relevant disciplines and

• M.E./M.Tech./M.S. (By Research)/M.Sc. (from a two-year programme)

• Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates.

• Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Option 2

• B.E./B.Tech. in relevant disciplines with:

  • Valid GATE score, and

  • Minimum 7.0/10 CGPA or 65% marks for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates.

  • Minimum 6.5/10 CGPA or 60% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Option 3

• M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, or related disciplines and

• M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biosciences, or Bioengineering.

• Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates and 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Option 4

• M.Sc. in relevant disciplines with:

  • Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates.

  • Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• GATE/CSIR-UGC NET qualification

• Prior knowledge and hands-on experience in:

  • Cyanobacteria research

  • Enzyme studies

  • Basic bioinformatics tools and databases

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 30 Years

• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women and Physically Challenged candidates as per Government of India norms.

Job Responsibilities

The selected JRF will work on:

• Culturing and maintenance of cyanobacterial species

• Bioproduction and characterization of nitrilase enzymes

• Experimental and computational investigations

• Enzyme extraction and purification studies

• Bioinformatics analyses and database exploration

• Kinetic and in silico enzyme modelling

• Interpretation of experimental results and report preparation
