The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli has invited applications from eligible Indian Nationals for the positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Associate-I under an ANRF-funded research project in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Project Title

Hosting Capacity and Flexibility Market Enhancement using Decentralized Optimization in TSO-DSO-DER Coordinated Framework

Project Overview

The project focuses on developing a decentralized optimization framework to improve renewable energy integration through coordinated operation of Transmission System Operators (TSO), Distribution System Operators (DSO), and Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Research areas include flexibility markets, demand response, distributed optimization, and smart grid operation.

Fellowship

For GATE-Qualified Candidates

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• 1st Year: INR 37,000 + HRA

• 2nd Year: INR 37,000 + HRA

• 3rd Year: INR 42,000 + HRA

For Non-GATE Candidates

Project Associate-I

• 1st Year: INR 30,000 + HRA

• 2nd Year: INR 30,000 + HRA

• 3rd Year: INR 33,000 + HRA

Project Duration

• Initial appointment for one year.

• Extendable up to three years based on satisfactory performance.

• Appointment is co-terminus with the project.

Essential Qualifications

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech. with First Class in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) or equivalent.

• Valid GATE qualification.

• Preference will be given to candidates with M.E./M.Tech. in Power Systems Engineering or equivalent with First Class (minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA).

Project Associate-I

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech. with First Class in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) or equivalent.

• Preference will be given to candidates with M.E./M.Tech. in Power Systems Engineering or equivalent with First Class (minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA).

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 32 years

• Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India norms.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work on:

• Power system modelling and optimization.

• Renewable energy integration studies.

• Distributed Energy Resource (DER) coordination.

• Flexibility market analysis.

• Smart grid operation and decentralized optimization.

• Simulation, research publications, and project documentation.
