NIT Rourkela Recruitment 2026 | Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under DBT-BRD Funded Project

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela invites applications from eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DBT-BRD funded sponsored research project in the Department of Food Process Engineering. The appointment is purely temporary and contractual, with an opportunity to register for a Ph.D. at NIT Rourkela as per institute norms.

Position Details

Project Title

Optimization, Characterization and Nutraceutical Value Labeling of Traditionally Fermented Rice Beer (Zutho) of Nagaland for Sustainable Development Towards Entrepreneurial and Socioeconomic Livelihood in North East India

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• M.Tech. in:

  • Food Process Engineering

  • Post-Harvest Engineering

  • Food Technology

  • or other relevant allied specializations

with

• Minimum CGPA of 6.5/10 or 60% aggregate

Candidates with both M.Tech. and B.Tech. qualifications in relevant disciplines will be preferred.

Essential qualification and experience should be as per DBT, Government of India norms.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Prior research experience in fermentation

• Valid GATE/NET qualification in the relevant discipline

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Carry out experimental and analytical research related to the sponsored project.

• Contribute to research activities on traditional fermented rice beer and nutraceutical value assessment.

• Support project deliverables and laboratory work.

• Have an opportunity to register for a Ph.D. at NIT Rourkela, subject to institute regulations.

Fellowship & Benefits

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA (as applicable).
