Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • M.Sc. or M.Tech. from a recognized university in:

    • Meteorology

    • Atmospheric Science

    • Oceanography

    • Related disciplines

Academic Requirement

  • Minimum 60% marks in the qualifying degree.

Additional Eligibility

Candidates may have qualified through any of the following national-level examinations:

  • CSIR-UGC NET

  • GATE

  • Other national examinations conducted by Central Government departments and agencies


Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should have experience or knowledge in:

  • Satellite data analysis.

  • AI/ML model development and applications.

  • Analysis of tropical cyclones and extreme weather events.

  • Weather forecasting and climate modelling.

Technical Skills

  • Unix/Linux operating systems.

The selected JRF will work on:

Tropical Cyclone Research

  • Investigating microphysical processes associated with tropical cyclones.

  • Analyzing cyclone structure and evolution.

AI/ML Applications

  • Developing and implementing machine learning models for cyclone prediction.

  • Integrating satellite products with forecasting systems.

  • Supporting near real-time prediction frameworks.

Modelling and Analysis

  • High-resolution mesoscale modelling.

  • Weather and climate data analysis.

  • Research and development activities related to cyclone forecasting.
