NIT Rourkela Recruitment 2026: Project Fellow | NRB-Funded Research Project | Walk-in on 14 July

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has invited applications for the recruitment of a Project Fellow under a Naval Research Board (NRB)-funded research project in the Department of Industrial Design. Eligible candidates with a background in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics are encouraged to apply for this exciting research opportunity.

Project Title

Design, Fabrication, and Characterization of a Compact Low Frequency Mechanical Underwater Noise Generator

Project Duration

• 1 Year and 10 Months

Fellowship

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA (for the first two years, as applicable)

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess any of the following:

• B.Tech./B.E. and M.Tech. in any discipline with more than 60% marks in 10th, 12th, and qualifying degrees.

OR

• M.Sc. in Physics or Mathematics with the prescribed academic performance.

Note: One second class is permitted in either 10th or 12th standard.

Additional Opportunity

• Selected candidates may be considered for Ph.D. enrolment (for B.Tech./M.Tech./M.Sc. candidates with valid GATE/NET), subject to approval by the Department Research Committee (DRC) based on performance and suitability.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work on:

• 3D modelling using SolidWorks

• Finite Element (FE) simulation using ANSYS/COMSOL

• MATLAB programming

• Hardware development

• Polymer/viscoelastic material modelling using TTS

• Research related to underwater acoustics and mechanical system design

The project also offers an opportunity to work closely with industry and gain exposure to a unique underwater acoustic testing facility.
