The National Institute of Technology Puducherry invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow under an industry-sponsored research project in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Project Title

Industry-Sponsored Research Project on Landslide Mitigation

Project Duration

The initial appointment will be for one year and may be extended for up to three years, depending on project requirements and performance.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering; and

• M.E./M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge or experience in:

• Slope stability analysis

• Rockfall and debris-flow barriers

• Geosynthetics

• Finite-element analysis

• Landslide mitigation

• Numerical-modelling software such as PLAXIS, ABAQUS and LS-DYNA

• Laboratory and field testing

Fellowship

• First and Second Year: INR 37,000 per month plus 8% HRA

• Third Year: INR 42,000 per month plus 8% HRA

Age Limit

The upper age limit is 35 years as of the last date of application, subject to applicable norms.

Career Development Opportunities

The selected candidate may be permitted to register for the Ph.D. programme at NIT Puducherry, subject to institute rules, seat availability and fulfilment of eligibility requirements.

The candidate will also have an opportunity to work closely with the sponsoring industry throughout the project. Suitable candidates may be considered for technical roles by the industry after project completion, depending on performance and organisational requirements.
