National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal is inviting applications for the position of Project Assistant / Project Associate in the Department of Water Resources & Ocean Engineering. This position is part of a research project sponsored by the Vision Group on Science & Technology (VGST), Government of Karnataka, focusing on geospatial datasets and machine learning techniques for soil quality analysis.

Remuneration & Tenure

• Salary: INR 25,000/- per month (Consolidated).

• Project Duration: 12 months (May 2026 - May 2027).

• Tenure of Appointment: From the date of joining until the completion of the project.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: * M.Tech in Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing and GIS / Water Resources Engineering / Hydrology / Agricultural Engineering.

  • OR M.Sc in Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing / any other relevant specialization.

  • Candidates must have at least a 6.5/10 CGPA or 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university as a full-time program.

• Preferred Skills: * Knowledge of Hyperspectral and Microwave Remote Sensing, as well as AI-ML applications.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Practical coding experience.
