The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, through the Office of the Dean (Research & Consultancy), has invited applications for the posts of Research Associate and Project Associate-I on a purely contractual basis. The positions are available under the project titled "Development of Sustainable Textiles from Himalayan Nettle", funded by the National Handloom Development Programme, Ministry of Textiles (MoT), Government of India. Project Title

Development of Sustainable Textiles from Himalayan Nettle

The project focuses on developing sustainable textile materials using Himalayan nettle and involves fibre processing, characterization, and field-based research activities.

Educational Qualifications

Research Associate

Candidates should possess:

• Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in Mechanical Engineering

OR

• 3 years of research, teaching, and design & development experience after M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with at least one research paper published in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Project Associate-I

Candidates should possess:

• B.E./B.Tech. in:

  • Textile Engineering

  • Materials Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

Desirable Qualification

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:

• Fibre processing

• Material characterization

• Field surveys

Fellowship

Research Associate

• INR 58,000 per month + HRA

Project Associate-I

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA (for NET/GATE-qualified candidates)

OR

• INR 30,000 per month + HRA (for candidates without NET/GATE qualification)

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be involved in:

• Data collection and field surveys

• Design and fabrication of machines

• Characterization and blending of fibres

• Research activities related to sustainable textile development

Appointment Duration

• 15 Months

• The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
