The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) invites applications for the positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Associate-I (PA-I) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for a research project funded by the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Project Information

Project Title:
Scientific Reconstruction and Engineering Validation of Indigenous Yantra-Vidyā as an Advanced Proto-Manufacturing and Structural System: Integrating Śilpa-Śāstra, Material Characterization, and Finite Element Analysis in Hoysala Temple Construction

Sponsoring Agency:
Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India

Duration of Engagement

• Initial appointment for 1 year

• Extendable for up to 2 years based on performance.

Eligibility Criteria

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Candidates must possess either:

• A Master’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, or related disciplines with a first class and GATE/CSIR-UGC NET qualification.

OR

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines with:

  • First-class CGPA of 7.5/10 or above, and

  • A valid score in CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or any other national-level examination conducted by Central Government departments.

For Project Associate-I (PA-I)

Candidates must possess either:

• A Master’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, or related disciplines with a first class.

OR

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines with a first-class CGPA of 7.5/10 or above.

Desirable Qualifications

• Good understanding of:

  • Manufacturing processes

  • Finite Element Modelling (FEM)

• Minimum one year of experience as a JRF in a sanctioned project.

Fellowship

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• INR 37,000 per month + 20% HRA (for GATE/NET-qualified candidates)

Project Associate-I (PA-I)

• INR 30,000 per month + 20% HRA (for non-GATE/NET-qualified candidates)
