NIT Andhra Pradesh Invites Applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under Ministry of Biotechnology Project

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Andhra Pradesh has invited applications from eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a Ministry of Biotechnology (Government of India) sponsored research project in the Department of Biotechnology.

The project aims to develop value-added, low-alcoholic traditional millet-based fermented foods from Northeast India.

• Initial Appointment: 1 Year (Extendable annually based on satisfactory performance and project funding)

Project Title

Process Development for the Production of Value-Added, Low-Alcoholic Kodo Ko Janr – A Traditional Millet-Based Fermented Functional Food of Northeast India

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should satisfy any one of the following eligibility criteria:

• First Class B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering, with a minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at UG & PG levels and a valid GATE qualification or any national-level eligibility examination (DBT, ICMR, ICAR, etc.).

OR

• Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at UG or PG level from a recognized university/institute in Science, Biotechnology or allied disciplines, with a valid GATE or national-level eligibility examination qualification.

OR

• Candidates without GATE but possessing a Master's degree (M.Sc./M.Tech.) in a relevant field from a centrally funded institute with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 are also eligible to apply.

Candidates in the final semester/year of M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. programmes may also apply, provided they submit the required degree certificate and qualifying examination results before joining.

Fellowship

• INR 37,000 per month for the first two years

• INR 42,000 per month for the third year

• House Rent Allowance (HRA): 10% as per institute rules

Research Area

The selected candidate will work on:

• Millet-based fermented functional foods

• Food biotechnology

• Fermentation technology

• Functional food development

• Value addition of traditional foods

• Process development and optimisation
