The School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) invites applications for one Project Associate-I position under a SERB-sponsored research project. The appointment is purely temporary and subject to the availability of project funds.

“Investigation of Stress Physiology and Changes in Grain Fatty Acid Composition in Brassica juncea Against Fluoride Toxicity”

Essential Qualification
Applicants should possess an M.Sc. degree in any of the following disciplines or an equivalent qualification:
Environmental Science
Botany
Chemical Science
Earth Sciences
Candidates should have a strong academic record and experience in environmental fieldwork and the analysis of soil, water and plant samples.
Desirable Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
Environmental fieldwork and soil analysis
Analysis of anions and cations through ion chromatography
Physicochemical analysis of soil and water
Fatty-acid analysis of plant samples using gas chromatography
Collection of samples from agricultural fields in the National Capital Region
Candidates must be willing to undertake field-based sample collection.
Monthly Remuneration
INR 37,000 plus 30% HRA for candidates qualified in CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship, or GATE
INR 30,000 plus 30% HRA for candidates without CSIR-UGC NET or GATE qualification
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
Undertake field sampling and data collection.
Analyse soil, water and plant samples.
Conduct environmental and laboratory observations.
Use basic computer and statistical tools for research analysis.
Contribute to research reports and academic publications.
The appointment will be co-terminus with the project. Services may be discontinued if the selected candidate’s performance is found unsatisfactory.
