The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the ANRF-ARG sponsored research project titled “Fair and Scalable Graph Algorithms for Large Networks.” The project is being supervised by Dr. Manish Kumar and focuses on advanced graph algorithms with fairness constraints.

Fellowship

Monthly Fellowship: INR 37,000/- + HRA (as per institute norms)

Duration

• Initial appointment will be for 6 months.

• Extension may be granted based on satisfactory performance.

• The position can continue for up to 3 years subject to project requirements and performance evaluation.

Roles & Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work on:

• Designing graph algorithms with fairness constraints.

• Developing scalable solutions for large-scale network analysis.

• Implementing and evaluating graph-based computational models.

• Research and development in algorithm design and optimization.

Essential Qualifications

Educational Qualification

Candidates must satisfy any one of the following:

Option 1

• Postgraduate degree (M.Sc./M.Tech.) in:

  • Computer Science

  • Mathematics

  • Related disciplines

• Candidates with an M.Sc. degree must possess a valid NET/GATE qualification unless exempted through M.Tech.

Option 2

• Undergraduate degree (B.Tech./B.E.) in:

  • Computer Science

  • Computer Science & Engineering

  • Information Technology

  • Mathematics

  • Mathematics & Computing

  • Related disciplines

• Valid GATE qualification required.

• GATE/NET qualification is not mandatory for candidates graduating from IITs, IIITs, or NITs.

Option 3

• Three-year B.Sc. followed by a two-year M.Sc. is considered equivalent to B.Tech./B.E. for eligibility purposes, and corresponding GATE/NET rules apply.

Required Technical Skills

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of:

  • Data Structures

  • Graph Algorithms

  • Analysis of Algorithms

Programming Skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as:

  • Python

  • C++

Selection Process
