The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a sponsored research project funded by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), Ministry of Coal, Government of India. The project focuses on developing intelligent monitoring and control systems for underground coal mine safety.

About the Project

Project Title:
“Indigenous Development of Intelligent Monitoring and Control System for Ventilation and Fire Detection in Underground Coal Mines”

The project aims to develop advanced technologies for improving mine safety through intelligent monitoring, ventilation management, and fire detection systems in underground coal mines.

Position Details

Fellowship

₹37,000 per month (Consolidated)

Essential Qualification

Candidates must possess:

• M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering or related fields

• B.Tech in Civil Engineering

• Must have secured admission to the M.Tech programme through a national-level entrance examination

Research Area

The selected candidate will work on:

• Underground mine safety systems

• Intelligent monitoring technologies

• Ventilation control systems

• Fire detection and prevention in coal mines

• Applied geotechnical and mining-related research
