Project Title

Prototype Development of Self-Powered Smart Insulator Units for High Voltage Distribution Networks Using Triboelectric Energy Harvesting

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Develop self-powered smart insulator prototypes using triboelectric energy harvesting.

• Test the electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance of the developed systems.

• Integrate sensors and wireless monitoring technologies for real-time condition assessment.

• Assist in research activities, technical documentation, and publication of research outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification

• First Class B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.

• Valid GATE qualification.

Desirable Qualification

• First Class M.E./M.Tech. in High Voltage Engineering or Power System Engineering.

• Valid GATE qualification.

Fellowship

• JRF: INR 37,000 per month (for the first two years)

• SRF: INR 42,000 per month (for the third year, as per project norms)

Additional Information

• The appointment is initially for the duration of the project (3 years).

• The selected candidate will be encouraged to register for the Ph.D. programme at IIT Roorkee, subject to institute rules and regulations.
