IIT Roorkee Recruitment 2026: JRF Opening in Chemical Engineering Department

The Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is inviting applications from Indian nationals for a temporary project position as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF).

The selected candidate will work under the guidance of Prof. Prasenjit Mondal (Principal Investigator) on a cutting-edge sustainability project sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ARG Grant).

Bonus Opportunity: The selected candidate may get an opportunity for Ph.D. admission at IIT Roorkee.

Project & Position Overview

  • Project Title: Green Recovery of Lithium from brine solution and waste lithium-ion battery using functionalized biochar and thermochemical processing

  • Position Available: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) — 1 Post

  • Duration: 36 Months (3 years)

  • Job Description: To perform several experiments focusing on lithium recovery from brine solutions and spent lithium-ion batteries.

Salary Structure & Eligibility

Monthly Emoluments:

  • First Two Years: INR. 37,000 / month

  • Third Year: INR. 42,000 / month

Educational Qualifications:

  • Degree: B.Tech / M.Tech / M.E. in Chemical Engineering and Allied Branches of Engineering.

  • Mandatory Requirement: Must have a valid GATE / NET qualification.

  • Venue: Committee Room, Chemical Engineering Department, IIT Roorkee

Important Conditions

  • Reservation Preference: Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates on equal qualifications and experience.

  • Travel Allowance: No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.
