IIT Roorkee JRF Recruitment 2026 – Apply for ANRF Funded Project in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has invited applications from eligible Indian nationals for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under an ANRF-sponsored research project in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Interested candidates can submit their applications via email on or before 25 July 2026 (11:59 PM).

Position Overview

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• M.E./M.Tech. in:

  • Manufacturing Engineering

  • Production Engineering

  • Materials Engineering

  • Allied Engineering disciplines

Minimum Academic Requirement:

• CGPA ≥ 6.0/10 or 60% marks

• GATE qualification is required.

GATE Exemption

Candidates are exempted from the GATE requirement if they have:

• B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical/Production/Materials or allied disciplines from IITs with CGPA ≥ 8.0, or

• M.E./M.Tech. in Manufacturing/Production/Materials or allied disciplines from IITs with CGPA ≥ 8.0.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM)

• Material characterization

• Finite Element (FE) modeling

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Develop experimental setups for Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM).

• Perform microstructural and mechanical material characterization.

• Carry out material modeling and data analysis.

• Work closely with the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator to achieve project objectives.

Fellowship & Benefits

• INR 37,000 per month + HRA as per institute rules.

• Opportunity to work on an ANRF-funded research project.

• Selected candidate may get an opportunity for Ph.D. admission at IIT Roorkee, subject to institute rules.
